Are you a victim of a toxic divorce?
A toxic divorce is a a divorce that is characterised by high conflict, manipulation, and emotional distress. It often involves negative behaviours and communication patterns that create a harmful environment for both parties, as well as any children involved. A toxic divorce can cause pain, emotional and legal distress. Some common features of a toxic divorce include:
Constant Conflict: The individuals involved cannot agree on anything, leading to ongoing disputes about issues like child custody, property division, and alimony.
Manipulation and Control: One or both spouses may use manipulation, deceit, or threats to control the other, which is emotionally draining.
Hostility and Anger: Continuous displays of anger, hostility, or resentment, often involving verbal abuse or bitter arguments.
Parental Alienation: One parent may try to turn the children against the other parent, intentionally creating distance or negative feelings, which can harm the children emotionally.
Lack of Cooperation: In a toxic divorce, spouses are often unwilling to cooperate or compromise, which leads to legal consequences and unnecessary stress.
Assistance for divorced foreigners in Bulgaria
Divorce laws in Bulgaria can differ significantly from those in other countries. This is why many foreigners living in Bulgaria may have problems with their ex-spouses after a divorce abroad. Often these problems are in relation to foreign (non Bulgarian) court orders, harassment from ex-spouses and financial disputes.
We provide the following legal services to foreigners, living in Bulgaria:
- Legal representation in front of the Bulgarian authorities in relation to claims and foreign court orders;
- Criminal defence in case of actions (or inactions), when these constitute a crime in Bulgaria or abroad;
- Communication with the legal representatives of the former spouses in order to resolve any issues in the most favourable way for our clients;
- Assistance in filing complaints against ex-spouses with the Bulgarian police and prosecution authorities. In many cases, harassment by ex-spouses crosses the red line and becomes illegal. Such harassment is often in the form of extortion, defamation, coercion, etc. These are criminal offences in Bulgaria and we can ensure that our clients’ interests are protected and the perpetrators can be prosecuted;
- Legal advice on asset protection strategies that comply with Bulgarian law.
